Why does my Human Touch chair sound louder at home than it did in the store?

It is common for a Human Touch® chair to sound different at home than it did in a furniture showroom or Roadshow.

Massage chairs contain motors, massage mechanisms, air pumps, rollers, and other moving parts that produce normal operating sounds. These sounds may be more noticeable in a quiet home or office than in a busy public setting.

What can affect how loud the chair sounds?

The perceived sound level may be affected by:

  • Hard flooring, such as wood, laminate, or tile
  • Carpet or rugs
  • Room size and acoustics
  • The chair’s distance from walls or furniture
  • Normal background noise in a showroom or Roadshow
  • The massage program, speed, intensity, or feature being used

Showrooms and Roadshows often have conversations, music, shopping carts, and other background noise that can make the chair’s operating sounds less noticeable.

When should I request assistance?

Submit a request only if the chair’s sound:

  • Becomes noticeably louder over time
  • Includes grinding, scraping, knocking, popping, or repeated clicking
  • Occurs only during a particular movement or massage function
  • Is accompanied by unusual movement, an error message, a burning smell (stop using the chair), or the chair stopping
  • Is disruptive or causes you to believe the chair may not be operating correctly

Submit a Human Touch Service Request and include:

  • Chair model
  • Chair serial number
  • Description of the sound
  • When and where the sound occurs
  • Massage program or function being used
  • Whether the sound has changed or become louder

After your request is submitted, you may receive a secure SnapCall link to record the chair while the sound occurs. A video with clear audio can help Human Touch determine whether the sound is a normal operating sound or requires further assistance.
