What should I do if I spill something on my Human Touch chair?

Clean spills as soon as possible to reduce the risk of staining or liquid entering the chair.

If liquid enters an electrical component

If liquid spills on or enters the controller, power switch, electrical connections, seams, openings, or internal components:

  1. Turn off and unplug the chair immediately, if it is safe to do so.
  2. Do not reconnect the chair to power.
  3. Do not attempt to test or operate the chair.
  4. Submit a Human Touch Service Request for assistance.

Before cleaning the upholstery

  1. Turn off the chair and disconnect the power cord from the electrical outlet.
  2. Blot the spill gently with a clean, dry, absorbent cloth. Do not rub or spread the spill.
  3. Use a dry cloth only on the controller and power switch.
  4. Test any cleaning product on a small, inconspicuous area first.
  5. Confirm that the cleaner does not discolor, fade, dry, or otherwise affect the upholstery.
  6. Do not use benzene, thinner, or other solvents.
  7. Do not saturate the upholstery or allow liquid to enter seams or openings.
  8. Allow the chair to dry completely before reconnecting it to power.

Cleaning SōfHyde or cloth upholstery

For Human Touch® products with SōfHyde or applicable cloth upholstery:

  • Use a water-based upholstery cleaner only.
  • Spot-clean stains with upholstery shampoo or mild detergent foam.
  • Apply the cleaner according to its label instructions.
  • Blot the area gently rather than scrubbing it.
  • Allow the upholstery to dry completely before using the chair.

Cleaning instructions can vary by model and upholstery material. Confirm the cleaning code in your product’s use and care manual before applying any cleaning solution.

Cleaning genuine leather upholstery

Genuine leather is porous and may absorb moisture, oil, grease, perspiration, hair products, and skin lotions.

If something spills on leather:

  1. Blot it immediately with a clean, dry, absorbent cloth.
  2. Do not rub, scrub, or saturate the leather.
  3. Use only a high-quality cleaner specifically intended for genuine leather.
  4. Follow the leather-care product’s instructions carefully.
  5. Apply a compatible leather conditioner after cleaning, if directed.

To help protect leather from normal drying, cracking, and staining, apply a high-quality leather cleaner and conditioner at least once every three months.

Always test third-party leather-care products on a hidden area first. Human Touch cannot guarantee the performance or compatibility of third-party cleaning products.
