Can I use a Human Touch product if I have a pacemaker or another medical device?
If you use an implanted or external medical device, consult your physician and the medical-device manufacturer before using or approaching a Human Touch® product.
This includes, but is not limited to:
- Pacemakers
- Implantable cardioverter defibrillators
- Insulin pumps
- Continuous glucose monitors
- Neurostimulators
- Cochlear implants
- Hearing devices
- Medication-delivery devices
- Other implanted, wearable, or externally connected medical equipment
Why is medical approval needed?
Human Touch products contain electrical, electronic, and mechanical components, including electric motors, permanent magnets, controls, wiring, and standard electrical circuits.
These components may produce low levels of electromagnetic interference or magnetic fields. Medical devices vary in their susceptibility to these sources, required separation distances, and other safety precautions.
Human Touch cannot determine or guarantee whether a specific product will interfere with a particular medical device.
What should I ask my physician or device manufacturer?
Provide the following information when requesting guidance:
- Your Human Touch product model
- Type of medical device
- Medical-device manufacturer and model
- Presence of electric motors and permanent magnets in the Human Touch product
- Intended frequency and duration of use
Ask whether:
- The Human Touch product can be used safely
- A minimum separation distance is required
- Specific features should be avoided
- Additional monitoring or precautions are necessary
Follow the instructions and warnings supplied with your medical device. Do not rely on general guidance for a different device or product.
What should I do if interference or symptoms occur?
Stop using the Human Touch product immediately and move away from it if:
- Your medical device produces an alert
- You believe the device is not operating normally
- You experience dizziness, discomfort, an unusual sensation, or another symptom
- Your physician or device manufacturer advises you to discontinue use
Contact your healthcare provider or medical-device manufacturer for guidance. Seek emergency medical assistance for severe symptoms or an urgent medical concern.
Human Touch cannot provide medical advice or approve use with a specific implanted or external medical device.
